ABOUT
The Research Program (RP) runs once each semester, providing members with the opportunity to design and produce their own research paper.
Participants work collaboratively to explore a chosen topic, apply analytical methods, and develop a structured research output.
Each paper is reviewed and guided by our Advisory Board members from the Department of Econometrics — Jessica Leung and Charanjit Kaur — ensuring academic credibility and quality.
Semester 2 2025/2026
By Sayali Choudhary, Aryan Mehan, and Gurbani Kohli
This research project examines projected emissions in Australia’s electricity sector over the next decade using time-series modelling techniques. By analysing historical trends and applying statistical forecasting methods, the team provides data-driven insights into potential emission trajectories and their implications for energy policy and sustainability planning.
By Sanjana Bhavin Lakhpatwala (Lead Author) and Dustin Keene
This Research Program project examines rental price trends for one-bedroom apartments across Inner Melbourne at the SA2 suburb level. Using year fixed effects and historical data from 2007 to 2025, the study analyses how rental dynamics have evolved over time and produces forecasts through 2030. The findings provide insight into localised housing trends and potential future movements in Melbourne’s rental market.
